Spiritual health is a key factor in achieving complete physical, mental and holistic health. Many people do all the “right” things but still struggle with their health. Whether we know it or not we naturally evolve spiritually as we experience life, often with much hardship. Uniting with our highest spirit is the ultimate life goal to achieve our full potential. Exploring our spirituality releases our creativity and higher abilities and helps us to lead a happy, healthy life in this challenging world. The spirit is the highest level of human existence unfortunately neglected by health experts.
Spirituality is having meaning, purpose and direction in life. It involves development of positive morals, ethics & values. Being healthy spiritually helps us to demonstrate love, hope & a sense of caring for yourself and others.Spirituality is unique to each individual. Your “spirit” usually refers to the deepest part of you, the part that lets you make meaning of your world. Your spirit provides you with the revealing sense of who you are, why you are here and what your purpose for living is. It is that innermost part of you that allows you to gain strength and hope even in the midst of adversity.
Attaining spiritual health is a process of restoring our true nature, our virtuous being, as well as gaining wisdom and divine knowledge. This attainment comes from regular, persistent practice and reflective living, based on true spirituality. It is having the inner wisdom that helps us to navigate through difficulties, like a lamp in the darkness, and guides us to live an effortless life.
Spiritual health starts with building a grounded spiritual understanding and developing our spiritual awareness. We should not mix spiritual awareness with the daily processes of our mind. The mind experiences spiritual awareness through the reflections of the soul and the ability to be both an active participant and an observer in life. Healthy spiritual awareness allows us to receive the wisdom to glimpse and slowly become attuned to the universal truth, which are the governing principles of life.
Spiritual health or wellness may not be something that you think much of, yet its impact on your life is unavoidable. The basis of spirituality is discovering a sense of meaningfulness in your life and coming to know that you have a purpose to fulfill.
For some, spiritual health may be equated with traditional religions such as Christianity, Hinduism or Buddhism. For others, it may mean growing in your personal relationships with others, or through being at peace with nature.
